The park rangers have been looking forward to our visit again and have some fun projects planned for us involving repairing and preventing damage to the trails from all the moisture we've been getting this year. And as in past years folks wanting to come over the night before or stay the night after the work party have that option-- the park lets us use the bunkhouses and main lodge with the kitchen for the whole weekend(just like on race weekend--see the lodging page on the website for all the info about staying the night at camp moran and what you should bring with you.) Also those of you who are interested we can go for a run either saturday after the trail work and/or sunday morning.
Meeting Time: 9am Saturday January 29th (this will allow folks enough time to take the ferry that leave Anacortes at 7:40am)
Meeting Place: Camp Moran (3rd right after Cascade Lake on the main road going through Moran State Park)
Ending Time: 3 or 4pm (this will leave enough time for folks to catch the 6:20 ferry back to Anacortes)
What to Bring: Clothes appropriate for the work and the weather, work gloves, sturdy shoes or boots. Your lunch and water and small pack to carry your extra clothes, food and eater in. If you have any of these tools it would be a huge help if you brought them:shovels, pick-axes, heavy short garden grubbing tools, wheelbarrow, long rock bar.
Carpooling: A bunch of folks have asked about not having to drive from the ferry to the park. I think that's a great idea and maybe the best way to deal with that is for everyone to try to carpool from the ferry. And the best way to set up carpools might be to reply all to this email with carpool details.
Thanks again and let me know if you have any questions
